King's Counsel Alberta
Eligible lawyers can apply online for a King's Counsel appointment.
It is tradition to appoint lawyers as King's Counsel (KC) who have made particular contributions to:
the legal profession, or public life
King's Counsel BC
Under the King's Counsel Act, the Lieutenant-Governor in Counsel, on the recommendation of the Attorney General, may bestow on lawyers in British Columbia the honorary title of King's Counsel (KC) to recognize exceptional merit and contribution to the legal profession.
King's Counsel Ontario
In celebration of the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, the Ontario government is returning to the tradition of recognizing Ontario lawyers with the honorary title of King’s Counsel. The King’s Counsel designation is given to lawyers who have demonstrated a commitment to the pursuit of legal excellence in service to the Crown, the public and their communities.
King's Counsel Manitoba
King’s Counsel is an honorary title bestowed on a lawyer to recognize exceptional merit in their profession. In the spring of 2018, the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba passed The King’s Counsel Act, which restored King’s Counsel appointments for Manitoba lawyers.
